• Allows eligible students to apply up to nine credit hours of graduate courses (5000- and 6000-level lecture) taken while completing the bachelor’s degree towards a future master’s degree.

• A student is eligible to apply to the pathway once the following criteria are met: 

  • Must be active in a bachelor’s degree program (it is recommended students apply at least 30 days prior to completing the bachelor's degree).

  • Must have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.000/4.000.

  • Must have a minimum GPA of 3.500/4.000 in the group of designated courses specified by the department.

• To be admitted to the pathway program, eligible students must submit an early provisional application to the intended master’s degree program for the semester following the anticipated completion of the bachelor’s degree. Individual departments may require additional documents, such as statement of purpose, letters of recommendation, or standardized test scores at the time of full admission into the graduate program.

• Prior to completing the bachelor’s degree, the student must also consult with their undergraduate and graduate advisor(s) to determine which courses will be designated as shared credits. This ensures that the courses will satisfy the requirements of the bachelor’s degree and can be used toward the requirements of the master’s degree. Once the courses are selected, the student must formally designate the courses selected for shared credits with the department chair/designee and the vice provost of graduate education. If changes occur at any time, the student must revise their plan in the same manner. The courses designated as shared credits must be accurate, and if changes occur at any time, the student must revise their last approved designation. • Students must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.00 until they complete their bachelor’s degree and receive a grade of B or better in the shared credit courses.

• If all program requirements are met, the approved shared credit courses may be listed on the master’s plan of study and be used to meet the requirements of the master’s degree. If any course does not meet the requirements, that course will not be considered as part of the shared credits for the master’s degree requirements.

• Once the bachelor’s degree is awarded with a cumulative GPA of 3.00/4.00, the student is fully admitted to the master’s degree program, and the plan of study is approved, the courses designated as shared credit will be included on the student’s graduate degree audit as part of the master’s degree program.

1. If you're interested in the Grad Track Pathway (GTP), start by discussing the admission criteria, program requirements, and which courses are eligible for shared credit with both your undergraduate and graduate advisors, as well as your department’s GTP coordinator.

2. Apply provisionally to the master’s program for the term following your expected undergraduate completion. You should apply at https://connect.mst.edu/apply/ with the same account used when you applied for admission to your Missouri S&T undergraduate degree. If you don't remember your account log-in information, reach out to Graduate and International Admissions for assistance. Make sure to select that you are a current S&T student applying through the GTP program.
   

3. Graduate and International Admissions will review your application. If you meet the minimum university requirements, your application will be forwarded to the department for further review. If admitted, you will receive an email notification of your admission, along with a link to the form for designating shared credit courses.
   

4. Submit the form to designate which courses you want to use for shared credit. This form will be sent to your undergraduate and graduate advisors, the department chair/designee, and the vice provost of graduate education/designee for approval. If you need to make changes to your course designation, you must submit a revised form. 5. When the application for the term you selected to begin the master’s degree opens, you will receive an email to confirm your intent to pursue the master’s degree and verify that the term is still correct. If you confirm, your application will be rerouted through the admission process for a final admission decision.

6. Complete the remaining requirements for your undergraduate degree and apply for graduation.

7. After your bachelor's degree has been awarded, review your graduate degree audit to see which shared credit courses have been approved for use toward your master’s degree.

Is Grad Track Pathway and dual enrollment the same program?

No, GTP is an accelerated program that allows you to transfer designated graduate-level coursework (taken for undergraduate credit) from your undergraduate degree to a future graduate degree program. Dual enrollment allows current undergraduates at S&T to earn graduate credit while completing their bachelor’s degree by enrolling in both undergraduate and graduate courses concurrently, during the last one or two semesters of their bachelor’s degree. Can I participate in both programs?

Yes, if you meet admission requirements for each program. Make sure to discuss your plans with your undergraduate and graduate advisor(s) to ensure your plan is appropriate.

I'm trying to enroll in a 6000-level course, but Joe'SS won't let me.

As an undergraduate student, you are still required to submit the Undergraduates Taking 6000 Level Course form to the Registrar's Office to be enrolled in a 6000-level course.

Can I make substitutions/edits/revisions to my shared credit courses listed on the GTP Course Approval form?

Yes, you can submit a revised GTP Course Approval form. Please be aware that only the shared credit courses listed on the last approved GTP Course Approval form will be allowed to be listed on the plan of study (Form 1) for the master's degree. If any course is not correct or does not meet requirements, it will not be eligible for shared credit use.

Can I get a C in one of my shared credit courses, can I still use the other shared credit for master's program?

Yes. You will receive credit for courses you received a B or better in.

When applying for provisional admission to the master’s program, what semester should I apply for?

You should submit a graduate application for the semester immediately following your expected undergraduate completion. If your plans change, you will be able to adjust the semester accordingly.

Can I use my shared credit courses toward a graduate certificate?

Courses approved for shared credit may also be applied toward one or more graduate certificates in addition to the master’s degree. The GTP Course Approval form must include the name(s) of the intended certificate program(s) and specify which course(s) is being used toward the certificate (a course can only be used toward one certificate). Each certificate program will require a separate application for admission. You must receive the master’s degree in order to also receive the graduate certificate(s) in the same or future semester/session.
