Dual Enrollment allows eligible Missouri S&T undergraduate students to take graduate-level courses during their final one or two semesters. These courses are taken in addition to undergraduate requirements and are recorded as graduate credit. The credit can be applied to a future graduate certificate, master’s, or doctoral program at S&T or potentially transferred to another institution. Dual Enrollment is ideal for students looking to explore graduate-level coursework or get a head start on an advanced degree without committing to a specific program right away.
To participate in Dual Enrollment, you must:
Be an undergraduate student at Missouri S&T with senior standing
Have a minimum GPA of 3.5 if you have two semesters remaining
Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 if you are in your final semester
Be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours for your undergraduate degree at Missouri S&T during each semester of participation
Remain in good academic standing throughout the remainder of your program
If you are participating in or planning to join the Grad Track Pathway (GTP), you may take up to nine additional graduate credit hours through Dual Enrollment. This limit applies only if you were admitted to your undergraduate program in fall 2025 or later.
Graduate credit earned through Dual Enrollment must come from courses that are not required for a student’s undergraduate degree. For students participating in both Dual Enrollment and the Grad Track Pathway (GTP), it’s important to understand the distinction between the two to get the full benefit of each. GTP courses are intended to fulfill undergraduate degree requirements, while Dual Enrollment courses should be taken in addition to those requirements.
For Dual Enrollment courses to count as graduate credit, students must submit the Dually Enrolled Undergraduate Graduate Credit Indication Form within the first two weeks of the semester. Once processed, the courses will be recorded as graduate credit and will appear accordingly on the student’s transcript and degree audit. These courses will not count toward the undergraduate degree.
Undergraduate credit can only be applied to a graduate program through the Grad Track Pathway (GTP). In all other cases—including Dual Enrollment—courses must be recorded as graduate credit at the time of enrollment to be applied toward a graduate program.
Students can take up to 16 total credit hours per semester of combined undergraduate and graduate enrollment. If they wish to take more than 16 hours, they must first submit the Dually Enrolled Undergraduate Graduate Credit Indication Form to the Graduate Education office for approval. Once approved, the form should then be submitted to the Registrar’s Office for final processing.
Although students are earning graduate credit, they aren’t considered graduate students until they complete their undergraduate degree and are officially admitted to a graduate program.
If a student is only participating in Dual Enrollment (and not GTP), they will still need to submit a separate graduate application for the term they plan to start their graduate studies.
